Modified.. declare to SAAQ?

Hi,
I just finished reading the SAAQ guide to modification and it seems a lot is actually allowed, in terms of performance. More than I expected anyway.

I was wondering if I went Stage 2 with my GTI, has anyone here actually gone through the process to declare the car modified.

The only reason I ask, is that I don't want my insurance company getting out of a claim (especially liability) due to the car not being fully compliant.

Insurance company and SAAQ is two different world.

Basically your insurance company will cover your car (damage, stolen, etc.) and SAAQ will cover yourself on the public road in case of an accident, even if you where walking on the sidewalk (lost of salary, health services and rehab process if needed).

So when shit happen, modified or not, SAAQ is a PITA to deal with, especially in the last decade and insurance company don't really like to spend money to help you out.

I don't think a "stage 2" is considered a "modified".

Just read on web site SAAQ they have a section for modified car. I consider that a 'rat' car is modified !
